Acupuncture - The New Addition to Your Holistic Health Plan

In this everyday world of constant stress across all age groups, we are ridden with anxiety, panic attacks, depression. The list is endless and mental health awareness is at an all-time high. How can we react? How can we help our society cope?

The short answer that everyone comes to: medication. What if we told you there were other ways to managing that stress? The depression, mood disorders? Plus a plethora of other areas of life, such as memory and your ability to learn. Maintaining balance, posture, digestion, high blood pressure or COPD... if you are on a journey to get off your medications, to take your mental health back into your own hands and heal, not just cover up the problem - then our services are for you.

I am going to tell you about a holistic non-invasive approach to treat and manage these stress disorders.

Acupuncture is a powerful effective tool used by holistic doctors and practitioners to promote health and happiness in our patients.  How does this mysterious ancient practice work and is it a relevant therapy in today’s highly technological world?

Acupuncture is thought to be up to  30,000 years old.  Some, including this author, believe acupuncture began in Sri Lanke, traveled the spice route to Europe, and then made its way to China where the Chinese perfected the art.

There are many channels or vessels that carry an electromagnetic current that we fondly refer to as Vital Force or Qi.  This energy is independent of the nervous system yet has a profound affect  on our nervous system. Current imaging reveals stimulation at various parts of the brain with stimulation of acupuncture points.

Scientists today believe acupuncture works at the neural hormonal level, which means that it works on the communication between brain chemicals and the hormones. That means acupuncture is effective in treating a variety of disorders including pain, depression/anxiety, memory and learning difficulties, digestive disorders, high blood pressure, asthma, COPD, etc.

The Chinese say too much or not enough energy leads to disease. Stimulating acupuncture points using needles, pressure, electricity, heat etc. can balance the energy bringing balance and health to you. Acupuncture treatments are gentle and safe. There are no negative side effects.

Do not compare acupuncture to medicine. Medicine’s goal is to cover up the symptoms. The goal of the acupuncture treatment is to restore harmony and health. Compare acupuncture to exercise. While you are participating in exercise you are getting stronger and healthier. No one expects to begin an exercise program and reach their health goals in two sessions. It takes time to get sick, so give yourself time to heal as well.
